And still more Zombie games are due to grace our screens with their slow methodical, aimless wandering in search of flesh and brains. Yesterday 505 Games announced their latest title; How to Survive, due for release later this year.
Featuring a robust crafting system, unique survival guide and a host of playable characters, How to Survive strands players on a remote archipelago off the coast of Colombia in the aftermath of an unexplained accident … but you’re not alone. In order to survive, you must fulfill the most basic of needs – seeking out food, water and shelter, as well as crafting dozens of tools and weapons from fishing rods to Molotov cocktails. Players can also team up with other survivors in local and online multiplayer story and challenge modes to take on a growing array of the infected.
How to Survive is being developed by EKO Studios and is due for release this Autumn.
With Undead Labs releasing State of Decay any day now onto Xbox Live Arcade, is there room for another pure survival Zombie game? Let us know after checking out the screenshots below.
Today we have more updates and features straight from Square Enix to share with you. Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy XIII is a new chapter in the adventure that gives us the player direct control over the iconic (and one of my favourite characters) heroine Lightning in a constantly moving, expansive environment, on a quest to save a doomed world from complete destruction. How will you spend your final days?
In terms of release date the best we can tell you is some time this year. Keep your eyes and ears open and I promise to shout loud when I know more.
Under our control:
Lightning will be the playable character – with a highly evolved range of techniques for battles and exploring the environment. Customise Lightning with a large range of different outfits and weapons; that affect not only the way she looks, but also her actions and abilities.
Action Orientated Combat:
A new battle system gives a level of direct control over the action unlike any Final Fantasy game, while having iconic elements that are known and loved throughout the series too.
A Constantly Moving, Beautiful World:
Stunning artistic direction depicts a doomed world filled with choice and diversity. Living, expansive environments featuring a rising and setting sun provide unique experiences for every player.
Making Use Of Our Time:
A world on a course for total annihilation presents unique challenges; where certain areas, missions, and people will only be available during selected periods. How will you use your remaining time?
A Connected Experience:
Stay connected to Final Fantasy and its characters, with unique features that link the in-game world to the real world.
With the Testament of Sherlock Holmes, the series of video games dedicated to the famous detective marked a notable step in its history by dropping the traditional PC adventure games’ gameplay in favor of a real investigation experience on consoles and PC.
With Crimes & Punishments, the series will mark a new milestone, as the development studio Frogwares will give up its home-made engine in order to switch to the well-known Unreal Engine 3 from Epic.
This choice will first allow the game to benefit from bigger environments that are more gorgeous and more varied, all while offering an incredible level of detail: dynamic lighting, shaders, post-processing effects, animations… the game is an all-around winner, as illustrated in the very first presentation video of the new engine of Sherlock Holmes’ latest game, which we’re sending you today.
This new engine not only benefits the game’s graphics: it also allows the development of new investigation mechanics that the previous engine’s limitations did not permit. These new mechanics give the player the feeling that they ARE Sherlock Holmes, and enable them to fully use the incredible talents and gifts known to all fans, such as his skill to guess many details about someone’s life simply by glancing at them – or to imagine and reconstruct the course of event by carefully observing all the key details of a crime scene.
Crimes & Punishments will begin showcasing these unique features in the coming weeks through videos and presentations of the game. Crimes & Punishments will also be presented in more detail at E3 2013.
Until then you can check out a series of screenshots and a trailer below.
