The Amazing Spider-Man 2, has been released in the UK and features an all-new single-player, third-person action-adventure story based inspired by the film from Sony Pictures Entertainment. Development studio Beenox, brings the energy and excitement of the long-running Super Hero franchise to fans looking for an adventure that expands beyond the movie.
In crafting the sequel to their 2012 title, The Amazing Spider-Man, Beenox focused on reinvigorating and refining the action-adventure foundation established by the original, beginning with the urban playground of New York City. The Amazing Spider-Man 2 emphasises open-world freedom in its redesign of Manhattan, remade with new visuals, architecture, challenges and surprises to discover. “We want players to have more things to do and more fun when they do them,” noted Thomas Wilson, Co-Studio Head at Beenox. “Every advancement we’ve made with The Amazing Spider-Man 2 informs that theme. From the Hero or Menace dynamic and new visual designs to the changes to combat and focus on Peter Parker – everything’s there to make that world feel more diverse, more engaging and more enjoyable.”
The Amazing Spider-Man 2 is available in the UK on the Xbox 360 at retail and on the Xbox One via the Xbox LIVE Marketplace. The Xbox One retail game will hit stores during May 2014.
The Amazing Spider-Man 2 has been announced by both Activision and Marvel, is set to launch next spring alongside the upcoming feature film of the same name. Developed by Beenox, who also developed the orignal The Amazing Spider-Man video game for Xbox 360, this all-new third-person action-adventure will build on the previous game with an alternative take on the events of the upcoming movie, while also giving players an enhanced, free-roaming web-slinging experience through a greatly expanded New York City.
Thomas Wilson, Co-Studio Head of Beenox stated that the development team are giving gamers more abilities, more upgrades, more challenges, and more freedom to progress. In The Amazing Spider-Man 2, players will once again assume the role of the iconic Super Hero in a unique side-story inspired by the feature film but set in its own continuity. Throughout his journey, Spider-Man will encounter a number of new foes as well as some old friends, as he confronts a new threat to his beloved city. The narrative will give Peter Parker, Spider-Man’s nerdy photojournalist persona, a greater role in the spotlight, as he investigates the complicated motivations and unique personalities behind the menagerie of Marvel menaces threatening Manhattan.
As Spidey, players will be able to free-roam through a greatly-enhanced Manhattan cityscape, one set to offer livelier, more engaging opportunities with which to put his sensational skills to use. Central to the expansive depth and detail being poured into The Amazing Spider-Man 2 video game is the new “Hero or Menace” system, which incentivizes Super Hero behavior by rewarding the web-slinger’s crime-fighting efforts, and adds consequences for letting criminality fester. Spider-Man’s personal brand of web-swinging and up-close-and-personal combat will see a variety of new features as well.
The Amazing Spider-Man 2 is planned to launch alongside the feature film next spring for Xbox One, Xbox 360, Windows PC and other platforms.
