Multiplayer coming to Mekazoo

Back in February, The Good Mood Creators revealed their new action platformer Mekazoo. In it, you play as one of five animals, defending your world from the invading insectoids. Initially, we thought that this might just be a single-player game, but, with all those Mekanimals to choose from, it would seem a waste to not include a multiplayer option surely?

Well, The Good Mood Creators have revealed that Mekazoo will have a local multiplayer and as if that wasn’t exciting enough, it will be making it’s debut at PAX Prime in Seattle on the sixth floor, booth 6517 at the end of August.

In the cooperative multiplayer each player controls one Mekanimal with the inactive player controlling the switch option. There’s a cause for the spirit of cooperation if ever I saw it.

Jarret Slavin, the creative director for Mekazoo;

The reception to Mekazoo at shows like SXSW and GDC has been overwhelmingly positive and we are thrilled so many people are eagerly anticipating its release. The most common request we’ve received is for local cooperative multiplayer, so we’re proud to announce PAX Prime attendees will have the first opportunity to try it.

Mekazoo will be available early in 2016.

We’re all off to the Mekazoo on Xbox One

There does appear to be a plethora of platformers currently hopping and jumping around the Xbox One at the moment, and The Good Mood Creators, a new studio founded by Jarrett Slavin and Justin Hoag, are about to introduce another to the fold.

Imagine, playing as one of five Mekanimals, each with their own unique skill, then imagine pairing up with another Mekanimal to enhance those skills into a powerful combo.

Mekazoo will allow you to do just this whilst platforming through a lushly-drawn 3D world. Destroy the insectoid army as you swing, boost, bounce, climb and fly through this world and fight to each character’s strengths. Play as the swiftly rolling Armadillo, the bouncing, stomping Wallaby, the acrobatically hopping Frog, the climbing cybernetic Panda or the gracefully gliding Pelican.

Mekazoo is scheduled to hit Xbox One nearer the end of the year. Looking at the gameplay trailer below, could this be the platformer that finally rivals Rayman? Tell us what you think.
