Xbox have lifted the lid on December’s Games with Gold. Xbox One owners will get a retail game in the shape of Worms battlegrounds – the sequel to the popular death dealing turn based game in which players attempt to blow up each other’s team of Worm commandos.
Xbox 360 get to take to the icy slopes of SSX, a return to the former glory of the franchise that had slipped somewhat since the days of tricky but first 360 owners will need to put on their thinking games to solve the mystery of The Raven: Legacy of a Master Thief.
Again the program delivers a mixed bag of games but for a change I don’t own the games on offer so I’m pretty happy, after all, I pay for Gold to play online – any extra games is a bonus!
The Raven – Legacy of a Master Thief, now available as an Arcade title on the Xbox Live online entertainment network from Microsoft for the Xbox 360 games and entertainment system, priced £7.99 per episode.
All three episodes of The Raven, ‘The Eye of the Sphinx’, ‘Ancestry Of Lies’, and ‘A Murder Of Ravens’ are being released on Xbox Live for Xbox 360 simultaneously today.
Beautifully animated, this adventure is a daring hunt across 1960s Europe where players journey through thrilling atmospheres and stunning environments with the aim of catching the infamous art burglar -The Raven. Players will need to follow the notorious thief’s trademark black feathers in the quest to capture him and finally put his crime spree to an end. The version on Xbox Live for Xbox 360 will leave players on the edge of their seats.
“We’ve put everything into the console version to deliver the same experience on different peripheral devices,” says Martin Kreuch, Producer at Nordic Games. “Working with the Unity Engine opens a lot of opportunities in this regard, but like almost every engine, also creates certain challenges. Together with the KING Art team, however, we managed to overcome them.”
“It was a unique challenge to translate the classic controls of an Adventure game to something that work well on consoles,” says Arne von Öhsen, Programmer at KING Art. “We think we managed exactly that and eagerly await the feedback from the console community.”
The Raven combines the thrill of the chase ‘whodunit’ with the risk and reward of a heist story where players get to experience both sides of the story as the investigator and the thief. Paying tribute to Agatha Christie’s crime stories and gangster movies from the 60s and 70s, The Raven is set to be a thrilling episodic journey.
