Destiny 1.0.2 Now Live, Engram Misery No More

destiny cryptarch

The second patch is now live for Bungie’s Destiny and is finally putting that pesky Cryptarch in his place and rewarding players with the gear that they deserve.

In the past, even the rarest of engrams could be filled with nothing but tears and disappointment but not anymore adventurer, rare engrams will always produce rare or higher gear and legendary engrams will only produce legendary or higher gear, as well as ascendant materials which everyone desperately needs to upgrade their gear right now.

Bungie have continued to listen to the community and has also changed the way in which the player is rewarded for completing tougher challenges, guaranteeing that you’ll receive some top-notch loot for your troubles.

Full patch notes below:

Cryptarch

  • Legendary (purple) engrams will always produce a Legendary quality item or higher
  • Note: Legendary engrams that exist in your inventory will change to Rare quality items when the patch is applied. However, decoding these engrams will still produce the same results as before
  • Rare (blue) engrams will always produce a Rare quality item or higher
  • Chance for Legendary gear increased
  • Materials: Ascendant Shards and Ascendant Energy promoted to Legendary quality (from Rare quality)

Rewards

  • Rare (Blue) and Legendary (Purple) Engram drops added to the potential rewards for:
  • Vanguard: Tiger Strike Playlist
  • Daily Heroic Missions (first time per day)
  • Weekly Heroic Missions (first time per week)
  • Known issues
  • When selecting a higher difficulty for daily missions, XP Bonus not show in the reward display
  • You will still get the XP bonus, you just won’t see it in the UI

Crucible

  • Reduced time limit on Bastion and First Light in Control and Clash from 15 to 12 minutes, bringing them in line with non-vehicle maps in those playlists
  • Lowered weighting on Bastion and First Light in Control and Clash so they appear less often in those playlists

Grand Theft Auto 5: The Last Stand Update Now Available

actual_1412244603

Rockstar has released yet another batch of free, downloadable content for Grand Theft Auto 5 titled “The Last Stand” and it’s unfortunately not as impressive as it sounds.

This new expansion pack is now available to download and contains two new weapons, two new motorbikes and one fancy new sports car, as well as expanding the map creation tool. The in-game editor now lets players create Last Team Standing game modes, create custom maps and share them with the community.

The 1.17 update has also added several new Rockstar Verified Jobs which are listed below, more details can be found on the official site.

  • Alta (Rank 16, 2-8 Players)
Less violent than the average apartment building residents’ committee meeting, this cramped LTS pits two wings of a building against each other. Try to stay on the rooftops, and look for long-ranged attacks across the courtyard and close-quarters clashes on the footbridge.

Del Perro Freeway (Rank 23, 2-16 Players)
Draw a line in the sand with this Del Perro Beach LTS. Teams start at either end of the beachfront houses. They can go at each other directly or take the pedestrian bridges across the WH to pick up weapons. Dr. Friedlander isn’t running his conflict resolution seminar this week.

Grand Banks (Rank 9, 3-12 Players)
As good a place as any to make a stand, three groups take the third way at the Grand Banks Steel foundry. Fight on the rooftops, in the tunnels, and along the gangways to be the only team that doesn’t get to fulfil their death wish.

    Hawick (Rank 16, 2-16 Players)
Two teams snipe each other from rooftops or get down and dirty in the alleys with shotguns until there’s only one of them left. Hawick hasn’t seen this many unfortunate accidents since speedballs were cool in the 80s.

Mount Josiah (Rank 29, 2-16 players)
When the dust settles, and the rivers stop running with blood, who’ll be left on top of the second highest mountain in Southern San Andreas? Two teams fight to be king of the hill on the open, almost coverless slopes of Mount Josiah.

    N.O.O.S.E. (Rank 9, 2-8 Players)
Something’s happening behind the mysterious chain link fences, and non-descript ‘government facility’ signs off the Palomino Freeway. Two teams have taken time off from spying on personal communications to fight for supremacy on the rooftops, walkways, and parking lots of the N.O.O.S.E. facility. Look up for the best weapons.

Paleto Bay – Tanks (Rank 29, 2-16 Players)
Some places get all the luck. Two teams face off with tanks and explosives and don’t mind if they turn the whole town to rubble. Who’ll be left standing in what’s left of Paleto Bay?

    Skyscraper (Rank 36, 2-16 Players)
There’s no escape from Los Santos. One team tries to hold out at the top of a skyscraper construction site armed only with sniper rifles and heavy weapons. The other team launches a four pronged assault in Buzzard attack helicopters.

Storm Drain (Rank 23, 2-16 Players)
Gang warfare’s gotten really out of hand as two teams come at each other with tanks, motorbikes, and explosives in the concrete channel of the LS River. Try to stay in the storm drain, and don’t worry about flash flooding, there’s a drought in San Andreas after all.

Tataviam Truckstop (Rank 16, 2-8 Players)
Lonely truckers and enterprising hitchhikers are in for a scare as this pit stop on the Palomino sees its share of the action. Small scale LTS that’ll make good use of the Heavy Shotgun.

We’ll get Heists one day guys… maybe.

Xbox One Controller Update

If you’ve picked up one of those new Turtle Beach headsets for your Xbox One, you’ll need to update your controller. It’s relatively painless once you know what to do, taking only a few minutes, but here’s a quick and easy rundown to help you.

1. Turn on your Xbox One. This is important. If you follow the rest of the steps without turning the console on first, you might not see the pop-up messages you need to in order to run the update.

2. Remove the batteries from your controllers. Yup. Take those batteries right out. You won’t need them until you’re done.

3. Plug your new headset or Headset Adapter with the headset attached into your controller. Easy stuff here. Just connect the headset/headset adapter to your battery-less, deactivated controller.

4. Connect your controller to your console using a mini USB cable. You should have a mini USB cable included with whatever headset you’ve purchased. If you have a play-and-charge kit, you can use the lengthy mini USB cable it comes with. The smaller end plugs into your controller, with the port located just above the battery housing. The larger end plugs into your console’s USB port, which can be found on the left side of the machine, near the front.

5. Follow the instructions on the screen. Once you’ve followed steps 1-4, a pop-up should appear alerting you that your controller needs an update. If it doesn’t, you’ve done something wrong. Choose yes and put your controller down with the headset and mini USB cord still plugged in. Wait for the progress bar to fill up; it shouldn’t take longer than 2-3 minutes. Once that’s done, you’ll have the option of syncing another controller right away. If you want to do that, select the option and then switch the mini USB and the headset to the next controller. Repeat this process until everything’s updated.

New Ultra Street Fighter IV Gameplay Mechanic Announced

Capcom’s Tomoaki Ayano has announced the latest gameplay mechanic to come in the upcoming Ultra Street Fighter IV. Besides the Red Focus and the Double Ultra mechanics, we now have delayed wake-ups. This completely flips the script and changes the way everyone will play, especially grapplers like Zangief and T. Hawk as well as vortex characters like Seth.

This is a roughly translated statement from Capcom’s Saikyo Blog .

“We also have a third new battle system — Delay Standing… For you to experience!

Delay Standing allows you to alter the timing of your wakeup, making your rise take a bit longer than usual. With this, you can increase your options against opponents with strong okizeme!”

Ultra Street Fighter IV is due out in Q1 of 2014 on the Xbox 360 as both a downloadable upgrade to Super Street Fighter IV, and a full retail release.
