Fatshark, independant developers, have released a new gameplay trailer today showing first person/melee combat and co-operative action in its latest project Warhammer: End Times Vermintide.
The newest footage shows us one of the early missions in the game, where the heroes head through the streets of Ubersreik attempting to reach the city garrison to warn them of the pending Skaven invasion.
For those who don’t know, Warhammer: End Times Vermintide places you in Ubersreik. The city is under siege by hordes of power-hungry Skaven and its up to you to work cooperatively as one of five heroes to survive the apocalyptic invasion. Each hero has a unique personality, play style, differing abilities and equipment, so choice is important in survival.
Vermintide is due for release in the second half of 2015.
Earlier today Fatshark revealed that Jesper Kyd is working on the soundtrack for Warhammer End Times Vermintide. The Swedish developer from Stockholm also unveiled a brand new set of screenshots showing off the Skaven in all their ‘glory’.
Whether you’re a Warhammer or a science fantasy fan, Vermintide is shaping up to be an intriguing title and one I’m looking forward to seeing more of. With a new Warhammer 40K game also coming this year, it’s certainly a great time for Games Workshop fans!
Borderlands 2 has to be one of my all-time favourite soundtracks. It was created by Danish composer Jesper Kyd, who also worked on the Assassin’s Creed and Hitman series. Today Fatshark have announced that they employed his services for their upcoming Warhammer title End Times Vermintide so you can imagine that I’m pretty damn excited to see what he comes up with.
It seems like I’m not the only one that’s excited! Martin Wahlund, CEO of Fatshark says,
When we first began the search for a composer for Vermintide, Jesper Kyd was a name that kept coming up again and again – his iconic atmospheric compositions have become a benchmark in what can be achieved in video game music, we could not be more excited about what he has in store for Vermintide.
Jesper is equally excited about the project,
Working with indie developer Fatshark was one of those crazy challenges that rarely comes along, they wanted a score from the perspective of the Skaven inhabiting the Warhammer universe. Writing this score has been a bit like joining the Skaven clan and giving them a voice – it’s been great, twisted fun.
There’s a new first person adventure game coming to Xbox One and it’s set in the Warhammer universe. The game is split both shooter and melee brawler, Swedish indie developer Fatshark are the brains behind the Skaven with a release date of the ‘second half of 2015’ penned in.
Combining gritty combat with cooperative multiplayer action, Vermintide will provide the player with a completely new perspective of the Warhammer Fantasy universe, through the eyes of the heroes they play,
said Martin Wahlund, CEO of Fatshark.
Staying true to the fantasy lore, with familiar foes and locations, we look forward to winning the hearts of enthusiasts and newcomers with this new take on the Warhammer story
Set in the city of Ubersreik, you will be able to choose from five heroes and work cooperatively to repel an invasion from the Skaven. Naturally each hero has their own unique style, abilities, gear and personality. The Skaven on the otherhand are cruel rat-creatures who favour the forces of Chaos – their clans are large in number but remain disjointed, should they unify and rise up from their underground lairs they would easily overwhelm all who oppose them.
