Independent developer Fatshark has announced that Warhammer: Vermintide 2, the highly anticipated sequel to the multi-million selling game Warhammer: End Times – Vermintide, is heading for consoles.
“Although speculations have been correct all along, today we are happy to start talking more console specifics as the Xbox One and Playstation versions has been confirmed” says Martin Wahlund, CEO of Fatshark.
Vermintide 2 is a visually stunning and ground breaking melee action game pushing the boundaries of the first person co-op genre. The game introduces the dark, bloody and twisted Chaos as an enemy faction. Other new features include 15 hero careers, new environments, talent trees and the proprietary Heroic Deeds System.
The 5 heroes have returned to take on an even greater threat – the combined forces of the cowardly Skaven army and the barbaric Chaos faction. Prepare to be challenged like never before as you and your team desperately try to survive the never-ending hordes of enemies. Choose between 15 different careers, climb the talent tree, and customize your weapon arsenal to fit your unique play style as you fight your way through 13 stunning levels. The only thing standing between utter defeat and victory is you and your allies – if you fall, so will the Empire.
Fatshark’s Warhammer: The End Times – Vermintide – which we adored in our review and end of year awards – will be receiving three new maps when the new DLC Karak Azgaraz release on Xbox One on February 28th.
Set among the snowy peaks of the Grey Mountains, our heroes are once again tasked with foiling the Skaven’s devious plot. This time, players must fight through snow, ice and ancient Dwarfen halls to stop them before they get to the Dwarfs.
We are very happy to bring Karak Azgaraz to all console players
says Martin Wahlund, CEO Fatshark.
We double down on excitement, and also release the free Quest and Contracts DLC the same day
The Karak Azgaraz DLC will feature three new maps: Khazid Kro, set in the outlying settlement of the same name; as well The Cursed Rune and Chain of Fire, both set in the snow-covered Grey Mountains. There’ll also be two new weapons: the Warpick for the Dwarf Ranger and the Falchion for the Witch Hunter. And we’ll have three new achievements to earn.
The free Quest and Contracts content will feature long term quests offering rare loot, and short term contracts offering temporary hero buffs in the form of boons.
We’re certainly excited for more Skaven killing action. We’ll see you amongst the Dwarfen ruins, fellow adventurers.
