Warner Bros and IO Interactive announce Hitman 2

OK folks, E3 is cancelled, I have all the news I need right here! Well, maybe a slight overreaction but I am so stoked to hear this news. Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment and independent game developer, IO Interactive have announced that Hitman 2 will be released on 13th November 2018 with a new Sniper Assassin mode that is available now for anyone who pre-orders.

Hitman 2 is the follow-up to the 2016 released Hitman Season 1 and will feature entirely new hyper-detailed sandboxes full of living, breathing environments to explore. The lack of the word ‘season’ confirms that the episodic release won’t be happening this time, but IO interactive have assured us that the post launch content of the elusive targets and special one-off content drops of new missions will still be present.

Hitman 2 takes players on a global adventure across a mix of bustling international locations, including a vibrant Miami setting with the colourful ambience of an in-progress motorsport race bringing a new backdrop to the series. From sun-drenched streets to dark and dangerous rainforests, each intricate location provides multiple paths to discover and unparalleled game depth.

Continuing the ultimate spy thriller story, Hitman 2 allows players to take on the role of the masterful Agent 47 and embark on a mission to hunt the elusive Shadow Client and unravel his militia once and for all. However, when 47 learns the hidden truth about his past, nothing will ever be the same.

Hitman 2 introduces new ways to play with the Sniper Assassin mode, a standalone feature that brings a co-op experience to the Hitman series for the first time, allowing two players to work together online to take down their targets. Sniper Assassin can also be enjoyed in a single player mode for those who want to play as Agent 47.

Sniper Assassin is available to play now as an early access bonus for consumers who pre-order the Hitman Standard, Gold or Collector’s Edition. The Hitman 2 Standard Edition is available for pre-order now. The Gold Edition is available for pre-order now exclusively at UK retailer GAME. The Collector’s Edition will be available for pre-order soon.

“We are thrilled to partner with IO Interactive on HITMAN™ 2 and bring the latest game in this iconic franchise to the passionate HITMAN™ fanbase and new players,” said David Haddad, President, Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment. “IO Interactive has done a fantastic job with the Hitman franchise, and this new game will provide a distinct gameplay experience for players to be creative in larger sandbox locations.”

“We are very proud to announce HITMAN™ 2 as the next exciting chapter in our ever-expanding world of assassination. Building on the success of our previous game, HITMAN™ 2 introduces exciting new features, new modes and franchise firsts to make for a larger and richer game,” said Hakan Abrak, CEO, IO Interactive. “We couldn’t have wished for a better partner than Warner Bros. to bring this game to our passionate community and introduce new players to our universe. Welcome back 47!”

That sound you hear is me heading off to pre-order!

LEGO The Incredibles officially announced

The internet is dark and full of leaks. LEGO’s next entry into the world of video games is The Incredibles, which was unofficially revealed earlier this month. This will be Pixar’s first entry into the world of LEGO – odd how they never entertained the idea of LEGO Dimensions – and it ties in neatly to this year’s cinematic release of The Incredibles 2.

“The Incredibles franchise, full of super-powered characters, adventures and teamwork, combined with all of the humour, puzzle-solving elements and unexpected surprises of LEGO®games makes for the perfect combination for players,” said Tom Stone, Managing Director, TT Games Publishing. “With LEGO® The Incredibles, fans can experience the non-stop action from both movies while fighting crime together as a super hero family.”

The game aims to recreate the scenes from both movies, so won’t release until July 13, 2018, which is the same day that The Incredibles 2 opens at the cinema.

Once again, it seems that the newest titles in TT Games ever-growing portfolio of LEGO titles will feature couch co-op gameplay. While it’s great that we still see this level of support for co-op, I would so love for the titles to one day get some form of online multiplayer/co-op.

Middle Earth to fall under the Shadow of War

Shadow

It’s hard to believe that the Peter Jackson-directed epic Lord of the Rings trilogy films were released as far back as 2001. The franchise has seen a spike in interest in the intervening 16 or so years, spawning multiple games across all platforms. One of those games was the Warner Brothers Interactive published action-adventure, Middle Earth: Shadow of Mordor. A sequel to Talion’s epic journey was greatly anticipated.

The warrior developers at Monolith Productions have been industriously hammering in the undercrofts of their Kirklington base, waiting for the signs of portent to reveal themselves. Today is that day, for Middle Earth: Shadows of War sees Talion return.

In Shadow of War, a new Ring of Power has been forged by Talion and his bonded Wraith, Celebrimbor. Together, they must infiltrate enemy lines and forge an army to turn all of Mordor against the Dark Lord Sauron.

Fight the Nazgul in a monumental battle for Middle Earth in this second open-world action-adventure to feature, and be brought to life by, the Nemesis System. The robust personalisation from the first title is now applied to the entire world where the environments and characters are shaped by player actions and decisions. This creates a personalised world unique to every gameplay experience.

The Nemesis System created unique personalised stories through procedurally generated enemies who remember every encounter and are differentiated by their personality, strengths and weaknesses. Shadow of War expands on this experience by introducing Followers, who bring about new stories of loyalty, betrayal and revenge. There will also be Nemesis Fortresses which allow players to strategise and conquer in dynamic strongholds and create more personalised worlds with their Orc army.

Shadow of War will also be an Xbox Play Anywhere title, meaning you can play, save, and pick up where you left off on Windows 10 PC and Xbox One.

It also looks like there will be three definite versions of Middle Earth: Shadow of War, with a Standard, Silver and Gold Edition all teased over on Xbox UK’s Facebook page.

The other, maybe more exciting, prospect revelaed by Monolith, is that Shadow of War will also be a Project Scorpio title.

Look out for a gameplay reveal trailer coming on March the 8th with the game being fully released (it appears, in UK) on the 25th of August, with the US release coming on the 22nd.

Suicide Squad meets Injustice 2

For some strange reason we haven’t done much coverage of the Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment and NetherRealm Studios sequel Injustice 2. So here is a little recap for everyone, along with the latest trailer to be released containing two of my favorite members of the Suicide Squad, Harley Quinn and Deadshot.

Based on the original Injustice: Gods Among Us, Injustice 2 offers the latest DC fighting game experience that expands on the previous title’s larger-than-life showdowns.  Every battle defines you in a game where players personalise iconic DC characters with unique and powerful gear earned throughout the game.  For the first time gamers can take control of how their characters look, fight and develop across a variety of game modes.

Continuing the epic cinematic story introduced in Injustice: Gods Among Us, Batman and his allies work towards putting the pieces of society back together while struggling against those who want to restore Superman’s regime.  In the midst of the chaos, a new threat appears that will put Earth’s existence at risk. Offering the biggest DC roster ever in a fighting game, from classic fan favourites such as Batman, Superman, Supergirl and Aquaman, to astonishing new villains like Atrocitus and Gorilla Grodd.  Battles will take place across arenas that have evolved in scale and span across iconic locations such as Metropolis, Gotham City and Atlantis.

So back to business and the latest announcement reveals Suicide Squad members Harley Quinn and Deadshot squaring off against one another. Harley Quinn returns with her signature attitude and some new tricks up her sleeve, while expert marksman Deadshot arrives for his console debut in the series.

Injustice 2 will be available for the Xbox One in 2017, but in the meantime if you want to find out more information stay tuned to TiX or check out the games Official Website.
