Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment have announced the upcoming release of Scribblenauts Showdown, a new video game based on the inventive franchise that expands upon the puzzle-action series’ creativity by introducing two new party game modes for one to four players. Scribblenauts Showdown will be available 9th March for Xbox One, PS4 and the Nintendo Switch.
“Scribblenauts™ Showdown delivers imaginative fun and the humour that Scribblenauts™ fans love with new social elements to challenge friends and family,” said Steven Chiang, Executive Vice President, Production, Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment. “Players of all skill levels will enjoy testing their creativity in the fast-paced, head-to-head party style gameplay.”
In the game’s Showdown mode, up to four players face off and imagine their way to victory through card-based strategy and creative skill. “Wordy” mini-games require unleashing the best object or character from the vast Scribblenauts™ dictionary of over thirty thousand words to outsmart an opponent. Action-oriented “Speedy” mini-games reward the player who completes a given challenge first. A board game style map displays players’ progress. With multiple ways to make up ground, every player has a chance to win, which keeps the excitement going until the end!
In Versus mode, two players can go head-to-head in more than 25 mini-games that vary in every session. The mini-games can also be enjoyed by a single player. Versus mode allows continuous play of games by shuffling players into game after game for non-stop fun.
Sandbox mode, the Scribblenauts™ series’ cherished creative playground, allows one or two players to solve objectives in eight new levels by summoning any object they can imagine and earn hidden Starites and achievements. Players can also let their imaginations run wild by unleashing whatever objects they can think of and watching them interact in unexpected ways.
Adding to the family fun, players can either choose, or design, their own original Scribblenaut™ to represent them throughout the game, all drawn in the classic Scribblenauts™ art style. The Scribblenaut™ can be further customised with unique clothing and quirky accessories by earning Starites and completing achievements.
The Lego video game series was a big hit in this household when my son was growing up. I am proud to admit that I have 1000 gamerscore in most of the early games, with the Pirates of the Caribbean game one of my personal favourites. The latest Lego game on the way is Lego Ninjago, and Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment has released a new game trailer which “takes players to the Dojo training grounds”.
The Lego Ninjago Movie Video Game features eight large, action-packed, open locations based on the movie story, as well as iconic locations and characters from the Lego Ninjago TV series. Each location includes a host of hidden secrets to collect, as well as its own unique Challenge Dojo where players can put their combat skills to the test, earning high scores and battling with increasingly tougher enemies.
The Lego Ninjago Movie Video Game launches on 6th October 2017 for the Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. The PC version will be available digitally on the 13th October, with the film launching in UK cinemas on the same date.
Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment and DC Entertainment have revealed gameplay for the newest addition to the top selling Injustice 2 character roster: Starfire. Motivated to action by the death of Dick Grayson, Starfire shows off deadly energy beams, celestial projectiles and her supernova super in the new gameplay trailer.
Developed by the award-winning NetherRealm Studios, Injustice 2 features a massive roster of DC Super Heroes and Super-Villains and allows players to build and power up the ultimate version of their favourite DC characters.
Check out our review of Injustice 2 here, with our very own Editor-In-Chief Dave Moran rating it a whopping 9.7/10 and said “Injustice 2 is the best fighting game I’ve played in a while – It has a fantastic single player and a huge amount of content to go along with it – Well worth adding to your collection!”
Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment, TT Games and The LEGO Group announced that Monsters, the second downloadable themed content pack for LEGO Worlds, will be available in October for the scarily low price of £3.19 on Xbox One. The Monsters Pack adds Monster Town, a peculiar place full of scary quests, terrifying creatures, haunted houses and ghastly vehicles sure to send chills down players’ spines. In Monster Town, Halloween is celebrated every day! But delinquent zombies are taking their trick-or-treating a bit too seriously. Players must use their LEGO brick building skills to repair the damage and scare away the zombies with tricks of their own.
Middle-Earth Shadow of Mordor was originally released in September 2014, and its sequel, Shadow of War will be released later this year. So, old news right? Wrong. This weekend (6th July to 9th July), Shadow of Mordor Game of the Year Edition is FREE on Xbox One. Not only that, but a new update has been released called Nemesis Forge. This update allows you to transfer your top orc nemesis and your most loyal orc follower from the original game to the sequel. Those Orcs will then join you in Shadow of War when it releases this October.
The Nemesis system was one of the most original gameplay systems to launch in recent years. As players of the original game will attest to, the Nemesis system procedurally generated orc enemies, with unique names and abilities unique to your game, and they rose and fell in power within their army. The Nemesis system will one again be a part of Shadow of War, this time with new features and your old foes!
And, even better news is that if you liked the original, or you try it this weekend and love it, then it is only £4.80 to buy currently. Yes, thats £4.80 for the Game Of The Year Edition! That’s about the price of a pint for a game that I played for about 60 hours!
