The New Generation Xbox Revealed – XBOX ONE

xboxone

At precisely 6pm BST Time (UK) the pre-warm up intro music dropped and the stage opened. The dramatic tones of drums, and god-knows-whatever-else a bit rock and pop had been playing about 15 minutes prior. The new Xbox console from Microsoft is now officially announced. Today we welcome the birth of a new generation with the XBOX ONE

Twitter was awash with reactions every waking second – What if they show no games, what if no console is shown, what if this, that and the other – showing how the bad PS4 reveal had an effect on Xbox fans in the build up todays reveal. The moment the console was on stage, my mouth had dropped, this sexy beast was going to be mine this year. The new generation XBOX ONE is all modern, metro and sexy, with a specifications list to match.

Some quotes during the event is that Team Xbox is on a new mission to design and build an all in one system that will light up a new generation of games and entertainment to put YOU at the centre of it. The all in one entertainment system is the one system for a new generation …

Games, Movies, Skype and Interactive TV all comes together.

XBOX ONE

Some of the new experiences with the all new XBOX ONE and new Kinect are:

  • Controls all your devices with voice commands.
  • Remembers what you was last doing and playing.
  • New Metro Theme and Trendy area.

  • No need to change input to watch tv.
  • Faster voice command reactions.

The next generation Kinect sensor is crisp at 1080p with wider view, Kinect can now understand the slightest rotation of a wrist or shoulder. It can read your heart beat, but even the new Xbox controller has been updated too for the hands-on approach to gaming. Integrated battery compartment, dynamic input buttons, better D-pad, a whole better playing experience for next-gen assisted by the all improved Kinect Sensor.

The new Xbox LIVE is more powerful and will use more than 300,000 servers for XBOX ONE compared to just 15,000 for Xbox 360. This will enable greater cloud based experiences, saves, movies, anytime anywhere. Intelligent TV and a multiplayer gaming DVR functionality is included to save your gaming moments and bragging rights. The new generation XBOX ONE is here… available this fall.

Look out for further updates really soon.

Xbox Now Relates to Broadcasting Services Not Console Name

xbox now

There’s been a great deal of leaks surrounding the next Xbox with names surfacing such as Xbox 8, Xbox Infinity, just Xbox, but the latest was said to be “Xbox Now” as slipped out by an employee of RARE on social networking sites.

Many media and gaming websites have jumped on the Xbox-conga and rumoured the console name as another addition to the family before Microsoft FINALLY announces the new Xbox at tonights unveiling (6pm BST Time) via Xbox.com and console streaming apps.

A quick trademark search has shown that in the UK, Microsoft trademarked the “Xbox Now” terms last October and it relates to Audio and Video broadcasting services over the internet. With the trademark being registered in the UK, and RARE (who leaked the name) developing in the UK, perhaps this is something they’re working for next-gen…

…but the trademark does not relate to hardware or even software?

Call of Duty: Ghosts Sneak Peek Before Reveal Trailer

You have about six seconds to cram all that into your brain and then try analysing what you have seen…

Infinity Ward has uploaded a very short video to their Vine channel, but due to finicky embedding I have a youtube version above.

Roll on May 21st 2013, when all will be revealed – well, hopefully multiplayer too since Activision has a habit of dishing out the information on that aspect to Call of Duty usually around E3 time.

CI Games Lords of the Fallen for Next-Gen in 2014

lords_of_the_fallen_1

Along their journey they will be faced with a series of decisions that will alter both the world and their character thus dramatically impacting the storyline.

EA To Abolish Online Passes – What Could This Mean for Next-Gen?

Battlefield-41-610x335

EA Games, John Reseburg has told VentureBeat in an interview that future EA games would not require online passes which we are meant to believe is the outcome of fan-feedback! Since when did fans become more worth than the thought of all that extra cash! It has left us wondering about what EA could know about the online functions of next-gen consoles with this announcement coming within a week of Microsoft’s next Xbox unveiling.

“Yes, we’re discontinuing Online Pass. None of our new EA titles will include that feature,” Reseburg explains. “Initially launched as an effort to package a full menu of online content and services, many players didn’t respond to the format… We’ve listened to the feedback and decided to do away with it moving forward.”

I have come to the conclusion that with next-gen looming it might be a decision the company has had to make if Microsoft’s next Xbox perhaps renders the passes useless. EA’s Online Pass would be useless for two reasons; first being if on next-gen Microsoft takes a Sony approach and allows all multiplayer to be free (with paid access gaining use of Apps and messaging/party features). or secondly the long rumoured suggestion that all next gen games require a one-time activation code rendering used games useless anyway.

Are we really to believe EA has done something due to fan-feedback after all this time? Expect all new EA games which includes Battlefield 4 and FIFA 14 to be Online Pass free. Maybe they have done the decent thing in a bid to gain more credibility with gamers – or maybe not?

When next-gen announcements are made, if it does render online passes useless anyway, we’ll keep you updated.

Microsoft Hint at Next-Gen EA and Forza Game For May 21 Reveal

xbox_logo_2013

A recent competition from Microsoft’s Xbox division has led to speculation that something with EA and Turn 10 Studio’s will be heavily featured at the E3 2013 Media Briefing on June 10th. The competition running up until May 20th is encouraging gamers to tweet @EA, @Xbox, @PlayXBLA and @Turn10 in order to win entrance to the event. The event that will ultimately reveal the new generation of Xbox console, and the brands future.

Other rumours this past week have suggested that an EA title is in the works for the next Xbox console which could be a console exclusive, with all fingers pointing in the direction of Respawn Entertainment. The ex Call of Duty development team has had something cooking for EA since the company was formed in 2010 and is rumoured to be something futuristic since registering a trademark for the word “TITAN”

Turn 10 Studio’s, famed for developing the Forza series of racing titles could launch a brand new Forza game for the next Xbox and showcase a stunning next-gen iteration during the console reveal in a few weeks. Having previously advertised job listings for Art Directors to help define “the cinematics vision and techniques needed to achieve exceptionally high quality content for our Next Generation of games.” – it’s considered all but a confirmation that we’ll be driving around a few circuits at launch this year.

With a focus on the new generation Xbox console on May 21st and its exclusives, we’ll drop all the news as it happens, but expect that you’ll be watching live on your console or from Xbox.com too.

Sonic the Hedgehog: Excursion Rumoured for Next-Gen Consoles

sonic_the_hedgehog

Wintos, known to some as the worlds best leaker of Sonic related information known to man having accurately leaked out every Sonic the Hedgehog title since Sonic Unleashed according to ‘Gaf readers has leaked again! The latest Sonic related bombshell has dropped with a new title supposedly coming from SEGA as ‘Sonic Excursion’ which will see our best-loved blue spikey ‘hog join forces with Tails once again.

A few snippets of edited information that is said to relate to the game is given as follows. The first level is called “Shattered Heights” and is similar to the Sonic Generations incarnation of Speed Highway. Very New York themed. Most of the level consists of Sonic and Tails breaking through the windows of buildings and running through apartment hallways, office buildings, and hotel suites with Pixar-like humans gasping and shouting in surprise. Sonic and Tails communicate throughout the level with each other similarly to the conversations in Sonic Heroes, both commenting on their surroundings and giving you advice on how to play the game. SEGA are said to have really wanted to make a Sonic Generations title that played more similarly to the Genesis titles where different characters could play the same levels with the only difference being their personal abilities.

Wintos, who has attended a SEGA presentation quotes:

After this demonstration was complete, we watched a powerpoint presentation with screenshots from the game. We were told how the story would focus on Sonic, Tails, Knuckles, Amy Rose, and Dr. Eggman with a couple of appearances throughout the game, but those appearances would have less importance to the plot than Amy Rose’s role in Sonic Unleashed. For example, Amy Rose’s story once you unlocked it would begin at Cream’s house, where we see Cream, Vanilla, Gemerl, two Chao, and some Flickies. Outside of that scene, none of those characters make an appearance outside of one more scene with Cream in it. Emblems will be making a return, and will be earned in various ways with ten emblems per level. They can be earned for completing levels with each character, getting an S rank with all four characters, collecting all red rings with any character, and completing side missions for the level.

The release date for Sonic Excursions is rumoured to be November 2013 for both current and next-gen consoles.

Call of Duty: Ghosts – Destructible Environments and Interactive Traps

1366815350-cod-ghosts-360

Activision has just finally got around to making the worst kept secret of 2013 official. Call of Duty: Ghosts has been announced, but not properly unveiled until the launch of the next-gen Xbox console from Microsoft on the same day – May 21st 2013.

Asda however, have come forward with a pre-order incentive in the UK and popular video game site Digital Spy has given detail as what to expect in this years addition to the multi-million selling first person shooter franchise.

“Call of Duty: Ghosts will allegedly take place in the future, but utilise current technology and weapons in line with a “major plot event”. The single-player campaign is said to include more destructible environments, with multiplayer maps featuring interactive areas and traps.”

Asda has stocked up ahead of the pre-order launch to meet public demand and ensure customers avoid disappointment. We’re just assuming some people would rather not pre-order a 360 copy right now until the next Xbox has been announced – save’s cancelling and re-ordering?

Smaller ‘Xbox Fusion’ Console Rumour From Last Year Re-Surfaces

xbox720mock

Last March, thisisxbox was informed of a really great piece of news that suggested a smaller Xbox console by the name of Fusion would surface at E3 2012 – however, it never did, but todays new reports of domain acquisitions reignite those rumours.

We were informed that originally ‘XBOX Fusion’ LIVE was on the “QT” as a small piece of hardware designed as a set top box with Kinect integration (sold separately). It will have wireless capabilities to the same standard as the current Xbox S console and feature its own online dashboard. Memory will come in the form of 16GB built in with USB slots available for extra storage and Xbox 360 controller support.

Xbox Fusion LIVE will host it’s own metro themed dashboard, have the Xbox LIVE Arcade game store, Games on Demand, the App’s Marketplace, Zune Marketplace and should be regarded as an entertainment centre for additional televisions in the home not connected to Xbox 360 consoles… or could be a great way for non gamers to have access to all the great entertainment experiences from the current Xbox LIVE Dashboard without the need for games.

Today, reports suggest that Microsoft has claimed a number of Xbox Fusion related domain names and as you can imagine the whole internet has gone crazy to think that the new generation Xbox will be called ‘Xbox Fusion’ instead. With a number of rumoured names under its belt, Xbox 720, Xbox 8, Xbox Infinite, Xbox Infinity, Xbox Fusion – we can not wait until May 21st when it is officially unveiled by Microsoft.

We’ll keep you posted in due course.
