Sonic the Hedgehog: Excursion Rumoured for Next-Gen Consoles

sonic_the_hedgehog

Wintos, known to some as the worlds best leaker of Sonic related information known to man having accurately leaked out every Sonic the Hedgehog title since Sonic Unleashed according to ‘Gaf readers has leaked again! The latest Sonic related bombshell has dropped with a new title supposedly coming from SEGA as ‘Sonic Excursion’ which will see our best-loved blue spikey ‘hog join forces with Tails once again.

A few snippets of edited information that is said to relate to the game is given as follows. The first level is called “Shattered Heights” and is similar to the Sonic Generations incarnation of Speed Highway. Very New York themed. Most of the level consists of Sonic and Tails breaking through the windows of buildings and running through apartment hallways, office buildings, and hotel suites with Pixar-like humans gasping and shouting in surprise. Sonic and Tails communicate throughout the level with each other similarly to the conversations in Sonic Heroes, both commenting on their surroundings and giving you advice on how to play the game. SEGA are said to have really wanted to make a Sonic Generations title that played more similarly to the Genesis titles where different characters could play the same levels with the only difference being their personal abilities.

Wintos, who has attended a SEGA presentation quotes:

After this demonstration was complete, we watched a powerpoint presentation with screenshots from the game. We were told how the story would focus on Sonic, Tails, Knuckles, Amy Rose, and Dr. Eggman with a couple of appearances throughout the game, but those appearances would have less importance to the plot than Amy Rose’s role in Sonic Unleashed. For example, Amy Rose’s story once you unlocked it would begin at Cream’s house, where we see Cream, Vanilla, Gemerl, two Chao, and some Flickies. Outside of that scene, none of those characters make an appearance outside of one more scene with Cream in it. Emblems will be making a return, and will be earned in various ways with ten emblems per level. They can be earned for completing levels with each character, getting an S rank with all four characters, collecting all red rings with any character, and completing side missions for the level.

The release date for Sonic Excursions is rumoured to be November 2013 for both current and next-gen consoles.

Smaller ‘Xbox Fusion’ Console Rumour From Last Year Re-Surfaces

xbox720mock

Last March, thisisxbox was informed of a really great piece of news that suggested a smaller Xbox console by the name of Fusion would surface at E3 2012 – however, it never did, but todays new reports of domain acquisitions reignite those rumours.

We were informed that originally ‘XBOX Fusion’ LIVE was on the “QT” as a small piece of hardware designed as a set top box with Kinect integration (sold separately). It will have wireless capabilities to the same standard as the current Xbox S console and feature its own online dashboard. Memory will come in the form of 16GB built in with USB slots available for extra storage and Xbox 360 controller support.

Xbox Fusion LIVE will host it’s own metro themed dashboard, have the Xbox LIVE Arcade game store, Games on Demand, the App’s Marketplace, Zune Marketplace and should be regarded as an entertainment centre for additional televisions in the home not connected to Xbox 360 consoles… or could be a great way for non gamers to have access to all the great entertainment experiences from the current Xbox LIVE Dashboard without the need for games.

Today, reports suggest that Microsoft has claimed a number of Xbox Fusion related domain names and as you can imagine the whole internet has gone crazy to think that the new generation Xbox will be called ‘Xbox Fusion’ instead. With a number of rumoured names under its belt, Xbox 720, Xbox 8, Xbox Infinite, Xbox Infinity, Xbox Fusion – we can not wait until May 21st when it is officially unveiled by Microsoft.

We’ll keep you posted in due course.

Next-Gen Xbox LIVE Said To Be “A Little Like Twitter”

xbox_logo_2013

The next generation of Xbox LIVE, or what could possibly be ‘Xbox Gold’ or ‘Xbox Infinite’ is said to feature a great set of improvements to the social side of its functions as well as better Achievements. Also within the last week or so, rumours pointing to the Windows 8 core has surfaced again, but old news for us here at thisisxbox!

Polygon sources has confirmed that for Xbox LIVE there will no longer be a cap on the number of friends on your list: “The next-generation Live won’t have a cap on the number of friends a person can have. The way players add friends will also change. Now instead of it being a two-way friendship only, people can choose to follow one another, sort of like Twitter.”

Microsoft want to put more power in the hands of developers and publishers with Achievements, allowing more Achievements to be added after a games’ launch without the need for DLC. Polygon state the purpose of “this is designed specifically to allow developers to tweak player behavior, perhaps urging players to check out specific areas of a game or get past a difficult spot. Next-gen achievements can also be tied to broader events, like a weekend challenge or a communal goal, like contributing a set number of kills to the bigger goal of 10,000 kills over one weekend. Companies can also create cross-title achievements, like awarding points for finishing the first chapter in two different and unrelated games published by the same company. Some of these bigger, cross-title, communal achievements will be a requirement for all titles.”

Additionally Polygon sources said that in line with the Playstation 4 – the new generation Xbox will be able to capture video gameplay highlights with sharing options to social networks, and that it will be up to developers to decide if their games require an always on internet connection.

Microsoft hasn’t confirmed anything about the new improved Xbox LIVE and will announce the new hardware and its capabilities on May 21st 2013. If you would like to read more about what Polygon has to say about the new console then visit this direct link.
