Thrustmaster reveal the Y-300CPX headset

Gaming peripheral heavyweights, Thrustmaster have been around for a while. Their last multi-format headset, the Y-280CPX, offered reliability and performance in bags. The time has come for Thrustmaster to replace this hardware now, and they’ve revealed the Y-300CPX headset in order to do that.

The new Y-300CPX incorporates all of the previous headset’s most popular features and improves on those that weren’t quite up to Thrustmaster’s own high standards.

The first improvement announced is extended compatibility with pretty much everything with a 3.5mm stereo jack. This means that both the Xbox One (with adapter if required), and Xbox 360 are catered for in this new hardware.

The headset will also feature 50mm drivers with a stable frequency response curve that is optimized for gaming, ensuring a perfect balance between bass, mids and treble. This, coupled with electro-acoustic bass amplification for a really powerful low-frequency response.

As you can see form the images below, there are deep, large, soft ear pads, for optimum comfort. The headset will feature a unidirectional microphone which is both adjustable and detachable. This has been specifically designed to pick up only the gamer’s voice.

If you want to adjust the headset settings, Thrustmaster have designed and included a multifunctional inline controller which will let you adjust the audio levels of the game and the voices of your buddies.

All of this and it will come with a whopping 13.1 foot (4 metres) of cable to make sure it’s compatible with any gaming set up.

The Y-300CPX gaming headset will be available from mid-February at a suggested retail price of $54.99
