Top Spot Game of the Year // Halo 4 // Reviewed Nov 2nd // Scored 10/10

“It goes without saying that Halo 4, is one massive title that is set to dominate the FPS market and 343 Industries have taken a well-known popular franchise and made it even better and bigger than ever before. Breathing new life into a universe well loved by millions the world over – Halo 4 is an Xbox 360 Sovereign that will set your console on fire with its diverse game modes, and a gripping and touching campaign story to kick-start a whole new trilogy.”

Second Place // The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings Enhanced Edition // Reviewed Apr 15th // Scored 9.5/10

“The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings is an exception to all the rules; a challenging and wonderfully immersive experience that is unlike any other game that has ever been seen on the Xbox 360. Definitely one of the games you ‘MUST’ own this year deserving nothing less than a high score from thisisxbox due to the level of enjoyment, surprises and continuation of a gripping and intense story that you can’t turn your eyes away from, both magical and something very special.”

Third Place // Forza Horizon // Reviewed Oct 13th // Scored 9.5/10

“Visually, Forza Horizon is a shining light – quite literally, the bright effects and sun glare add realism to the games sunny Colorado backdrops that can distract from the actual racing. The jaw dropping effects and scenes in both daylight and night time capture the spirit of what would feel like an American road trip that graphically ignites the imagination. Intricate detail, realistic environments and perfectly replicated cars to get your hands on, upgrade or even smash to pieces.”

4th // Borderlands 2 // Reviewed Sep 21st // Scored 9.5/10

“Borderlands 2 is a unique, exceptionally different, genre breaking and a highly entertaining game enjoyed best co-operatively with friends (or randoms) over Xbox LIVE. You can play it how you choose and either aim for the main missions or work hard as a team with up to four players to complete many side-quests and explore further areas, but be warned that the games difficulty is ranked up to the max!”

5th // Hitman Absolution // Reviewed Dec 16th // Scored 9/10

“Absolution is a fine addition to a well-known and publicly loved franchise. It allows new players to join in and not feel overwhelmed by a steep, difficult learning curve. This isn’t a game for FPS fans mind. You can’t go running in, all guns a blazing, well you can, but you won’t last long. It’s nice to see the game introducing new features not yet seen in the franchise, albeit they have been found in other titles. A deeply involving storyline with superb graphics, smart AI and a fantastic line up of voice actors makes Hitman: Absolutions one of my top games of the year. A well-earned 9 from me.”

6th // Far Cry 3 // Reviewed Dec 5th // Scored 9/10

“Far Cry 3 as a campaign is a story that wants to take you on the journey of your life. Remarkable with interconnected missions that later form part of a much larger, deeper story that is both memorable and extremely enjoyable. Visually Far Cry 3 is a beautiful island, take away everything else and you can stand atop a hill and look over the rivers to see a tropical paradise that appears to be tranquil and filled with lush greenery. You could almost forget about the disturbing woes from the world below and park your car up just to look out into the sunny horizon. There’s not a lot to fault campaign-wise as it’s pretty amazing what has been crammed all onto just the one disc, the sheer depth of exploration and masses of island to explore with an incredible amount to learn and complete that can also be played solo or co-operatively is an absolute joy to behold.”

7th // Catherine // Reviewed Feb 11th // Scored 9/10

“Do not be misled by the games cover as it may not be the most masculine shade of pink and initially appear like a game for the wife or girlfriend, but the 18 rating is there for a reason as it contains strong sexual themes, violence, horror, and the best use of bad language.

Catherine is an outstanding game that will either shock you or surprise you, if it manages both then it’s money well spent. If having an affair is this much of a nightmare… I’d rather keep my dick in my pants!”

8th // Sonic & Allstars Racing Transformed // Reviewed Nov 22nd // Scored 9/10

“Sonic & All Stars Racing Transformed is a fantastic title from Sega that most gamers would not be able to resist. It is fun, pleasing and the transforming vehicles is a great feature to change the dynamics of gameplay. Scenic tracks that will take you down memory lane as you play levels from familiar games in a whole new way. The game blew me away, so well done Sega for a smashing title that can be enjoyed by just about anyone!”

9th // FIFA 13 // Reviewed Oct 11th // Scored 9/10

“FIFA 13 has retained the title of top football video game again despite increasing pressure from PES. When I was a kid all I really wanted was a realistic simulation of my beloved football, but back then even my dreams weren’t this good. Love them or hate them EA have delivered another masterpiece of football action. The beautiful game has never looked better.”

10th // Transformers: Fall of Cybertron // Reviewed Sep 30th // Scored 9/10

“Transformers: Fall of Cybertron is, simply put, an amazing game. The story is rich and fluid, the action is top notch, with the final mission being up there as one of my favourites of all the games that I have played during this generation of consoles, and the graphics are like a massage for your eyeballs.”
