Titanfall Frontline… Titan down!

News

After a short spell on Xbox, Titanfall has gone multiplatform and was even hoping to make the jump to mobile with a strategy card game. After a beta trial period it seems that Titanfall Frontline will never see the light of day as a full release onto app stores with the servers going offline on January 20, 2017. Here’s the statement in full, which can be found on the game’s official website.

It is our goal to create the best Titanfall mobile games that showcase the fast-paced action, mobility and, of course, the power of Titans in this iconic series. We’ve learned an incredible amount in the beta test of Titanfall: Frontline, but in the end felt the experience wasn’t ready to deliver the intense action-packed gameplay synonymous with Titanfall. While it’s never easy to cancel a game, we’re excited to take some of the concepts we saw resonate with players and build off of them in future Titanfall mobile games. Titanfall: Frontline’s closed beta will be winding down in the next few days, and servers will go offline on January 20, 2017.

It’s unclear whether the decision was taken due to fan feedback, lack of take up or just that they felt (as mentioned above) that the game wouldn’t hit the right chords with the audience, either way, it’s Titan down for Frontline.

I've been gaming for longer than I care to remember and spent four years writing for another XCN website leading a 10 strong team. Now I'm in charge of TiX alongside Dave Moran – I hope you enjoy what we do!
