Xbox Scarlett: Everything We Know So Far

Unless you’ve been living under a rock, you should know by now that Microsoft is planning to release a next-generation Xbox console. The device, currently named Project Scarlett, is intended to replace the current Xbox One as the primary Microsoft gaming console.

The release was announced via somewhat cryptic video at this year’s E3 conference and since then, information has been hard to come by. If you’re excited about the next generation of gaming, here’s everything we know so far about the Xbox Scarlett.

More Power Than Ever

The first thing to know is that Scarlett promises more gaming power than we’ve ever seen before. Microsoft has claimed that the new console will be a full four times more powerful than the Xbox One, with a planned computing power greater than 10.7 teraflops. As a means of comparison, the Xbox One offers 6 teraflops. Scarlett will also support seamless 8K gaming resolutions, processing a whopping 120 frames per second. This blows all existing consoles out of the water.

Fully Integrated Gaming

You’ll already be aware of Microsoft’s plans to integrate all gaming platforms with the help of cloud-based gaming. The xCloud service will not only be fully live on Scarlett, but it will also be central to its function. Players will be able to play the latest Xbox Scarlett titles at full capacity on mobile, tablet, and laptop thanks to game streaming. Scarlett will also integrate all of your existing Xbox and Microsoft games into the new console, so you don’t have to worry about frantically completing Red Dead Redemption 2 before it comes out.

Livestreaming Takes Center Stage

Microsoft is keenly aware of the live streaming revolution that has taken place in gaming in recent years. It spans the totality of the gaming market, with Twitch and YouTube streamers broadcasting their Xbox gaming to audiences of millions, and live online casino games such as the live blackjack and roulette offered by major platforms like ComeOn taking center stage and attracting new casino fans. Scarlett is set to be a streamer’s dream. The console will allow for flawless and ultra-fast streaming for all kinds of games, as well as instant access to live streaming platforms such as Twitch. Whether you want to play live casino games or just watch others play, it looks like Microsoft is looking to provide a seamless experience.

Exclusive Releases

While we don’t have a lot of information about what titles Microsoft will be releasing to lure people to Scarlett, we do know that there are big plans in the works. A brand new Halo title and a revamped Forza game have already been confirmed, and will presumably be included in any deluxe packages when Scarlett finally hits the shelves. We also know that Bethesda is aiming its next Elder Scrolls title at next-generation consoles, as is the team behind the best-selling Fable franchise.

Release Date and Pricing

We don’t know anything about how much Microsoft is planning to charge for Scarlett, but we’re confident it won’t be cheap. The Xbox One originally retailed at $500, so don’t be surprised if Scarlett costs even more than that. As for the release date, Microsoft has already confirmed that Scarlett will be on the shelves by the 2020 holiday season, so early December 2020 is the time to mark in your calendar.

If Scarlett is even half as good as Microsoft is promising, then exciting times lie ahead. Make sure to follow this page for all of the latest updates.
