Bastion Dev SuperGiant Unveils Transistor

SuperGiant, the developers behind the hit game ‘Bastion’ has announced a new sci-fi RPG by the name of ‘Transistor’, but are currently undecided which platforms to release the game on for an expected 2014 launch. By watching the trailer below it’s not likely to be a retail game, so it’s a good assumption that the release will either be the Xbox LIVE Arcade, Sony PSN, Steam – or possibly a platform exclusivity deal is yet to be reached?

Transistor is an unsual name for a game considering Wikipedia lists such a thing as “a semiconductor device used to amplify and switch electronic signals and electrical power”. Within the game however, Transistor invites players to wield an extraordinary weapon of unknown origin as they explore a stunning futuristic city – we’re taking this to be the Transistor (maybe). For those who are lucky enough to be attending PAX East this year, an early build is playable at the dev’s booth #892. Unfortunately for me I can not travel to the US and maybe you’ll find me playing Party Bingo instead! But if you are heading out that way, share your thoughts on the game in the comments box below.

SuperGiant have also stated that they’re designing their next game to seamlessly integrate thoughtful strategic planning into a fast-paced action experience, complete with the studio’s signature melding of responsive gameplay and rich atmospheric storytelling. In Transistor, players assume the role of a young woman who gains control of a powerful weapon after a mysterious group of assailants nearly kills her with it. Now she must fight from street to street against forces that will stop at nothing to recover the weapon. During the course of the adventure, players will piece together the Transistor’s mysteries as they pursue its former owners.

A great looking reveal trailer is shown below to show you what you could be playing with should they go for an Xbox LIVE Arcade launch next year.
